Ford SUV Comparison

Ford offers the widest range of SUVs and crossover vehicles on the market, with no less than eight models. Regardless of the model you choose, you're going to get power, efficiency, and versatility. With a new all-electric SUV available, Ford is showing its ability to move with the times.

With a Ford SUV, you've always got enough space to carry both the passengers and cargo you'd like to bring along. The rear seats have a versatile configuration, and depending on the model, you can transport up to eight people.

When you're powering onto the highway and overtaking lesser vehicles with ease from inside your comfortable, tech-laden cabin, you'll be glad you chose a Ford SUV.

2022 Ford Bronco

The 2022 Ford Bronco is instantly recognizable, thanks to its retro design that's both familiar and innovative. It might look like its distant ancestor, but under the hood everything is different. It's civil on the road yet extremely capable on the trail.

The Bronco can be configured with two or four doors, removable doors, and a convertible top. Every Broncos gets all-wheel drive, and you can choose between a turbo-four and a twin-turbo V6. Both are extremely responsive, and if you kit out your Bronco with the optional Sasquatch package that includes many off-road performance upgrades, you'll have one of the most capable vehicles Ford has ever developed.

2022 Ford Bronco Sport

The Ford Bronco Sport is a compact version of the Bronco that makes for a better combination of street-smart maneuverability and weekend warrior for the city dweller. Like its bigger brother, the Sport gets looks everywhere it goes, thanks to its retro-inspired design.

Its truck shape is put to good use inside, as there's a huge amount of room for passengers and cargo alike. Storage compartments abound.

The Bronco Sport has all-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The base engine is a turbo three-cylinder 1.5-liter outputting 181 horsepower, and a 256-horsepower four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine is perfect when paired with the Badlands trim, twin-clutch rear-drive unit, and all-terrain tires.

The Bronco Sport is an extremely capable SUV that may even surpass the Bronco in some regards.

2022 Ford EcoSport

The EcoSport from Ford is a subcompact SUV with a high driving position and excellent handling. Every 2022 Ford EcoSport comes with all-wheel drive and a four-cylinder engine capable of 166 horsepower. This is combined with a powerful six-speed automatic transmission.

The EcoSport is at its best on the city streets, zipping around with ease and offering a cushioned experience from its soft-sprung suspension. You can even tow up to 2,000 pounds with the EcoSport, which is significantly more than most of its direct rivals.

You can get up to 30 miles to the gallon on the highway with the EcoSport and the interior sports the user-friendly Sync 3 system, available on the 8.0-inch touchscreen.

2022 Ford Edge

The medium-sized Ford Edge is a spacious and practical SUV for five people, as it foregoes a third row of seats for a more comfortable cabin. You get a choice of a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a wonderful twin-turbo V6 that outputs 335 horsepower.

The ST trim is the perfect choice if you're looking for performance that can keep pace with GTI sport SUVs from competitors. The Edge feels particularly good to drive, with stable cornering, spritely acceleration, and communicative steering.

Inside, you can kit out your Edge with a 12-inch infotainment display, which is paired with convenience and luxury items that put the Edge squarely in premium SUV territory. Fold down the rear seats, and you'll be able to fit nearly 30 carry-on suitcases, and the Edge's thoughtful storage compartments help make it the practical all around SUV that it is.

2022 Ford Escape

Check out the Ford Escape in the showroom and you'll notice it's about the same size as the new Bronco Sport. The Escape, therefore, represents the soft-road version of the Bronco Sport, with more car-like handling, comfort, and luxuries.

There are really 10 versions of the Escape when you count the various trim and engine options. The compact SUV can be equipped with a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder, turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, or a 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired with a 221-hp electric motor. If you choose the hybrid engine, you can also choose between plug-in and non-plug-in.

The various trims range from the economical S model to the high-tech Titanium, which includes a 10-speaker B&O sound system, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, and in-dash navigation.

2022 Ford Expedition

The Expedition and Expedition Max are Ford's biggest family carriers, with three rows of seats and the ability to tow up to 9,300 pounds. You might choose the Expedition over a minivan because it also has off-road capabilities and one of the roomiest cabins you'll ever experience.

In 2022, the Expedition gets revised interior and exterior styling that brings it more in line with the F-150. Notable additions are the standard 12.0-inch touchscreen (upgradable to a whopping 15.5-inch) and the new hands-free driving technology on the Platinum trim.

There's a new Timberline model, too, which looks awesome with its lifted ride height and 33-inch all-terrain tires. Alternatively, you can opt for the Stealth Performance package on the Limited trim that adds a more powerful engine and a sport-tuned suspension. There's lots to love about the no-compromise Ford Expedition in 2022.

2022 Ford Mustang Mach E

The wildcard of the Ford SUV lineup, the Mach-E was new in 2021 and won multiple electric vehicle awards.  The crossover EV showed the world just how good electric vehicles can be, going from zero to 60 in 3.7 seconds and traveling more than 300 miles between charges, depending on the Mach-E you choose.

The 2022 model has an even bigger battery and there are multiple new paint colors and an Ice White Edition. You can choose between a standard range model and an extended range Mach-E. As the battery is stored under the floor, there's a huge amount of room in the cabin, which is adorned with a streamlined dashboard and a vertical touchscreen.

The Mach-E points to just how great Ford's research into electric vehicles has been and shows us what to expect from the manufacturer over the next decade.

2022 Ford Explorer

Often considered Ford's best SUV for families, the Explorer's three-row seats and large cargo space is powered by an excellent 2.3-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that outputs 300 horsepower. Not enough? You can opt for the twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 that outputs 400 horsepower. Finally, a practical hybrid option joined the lineup in 2022, which pairs a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for a combined 318 horsepower.

The Ford Explorer's ride and handling are excellent, offering a composed feel. If you prefer a sportier and more athletic vibe, choose the Explorer ST that sports a stiffer suspension.

Besides all this, the Explorer comes with a whole host of driver-assistance technology as standard, including automated emergency brakes, rear-cross-traffic alerts, and lane-keeping assist.
